About Comic Book College

On May 28, 1974 the corner of 32nd & Hennepin became the 1st comic book specialty store in Minnesota.  The store's original name, Comic City, was opened by 4 individuals who pooled their collections and opened one of the nation's earliest comic book specialty stores.  Over the next 11 years, the ownership changed hands back and forth amongst several people.  In 1987-1988, Ralph Johnson and Chris Budel took the reigns and started the name, The College of Comic Book Knowledge aka Comic Book College.  In 1994, Ralph and Chris split the physical space of the store and became separate entities as Chris started Nostalgia Zone.  In 2003, Tim Lohn, a primarily Midwest comic book convention retailer since 1989, took over ownership of the Comic Book College.  In April of 2012, the building that the stores were located in was sold and they both had to move.  Comic Book College moved it's location about 30 feet away to what used to be the pediatrician's office in uptown.  In 2017, due to uptown's need for more condominiums, the property was sold and the building was torn down.  Comic Book College then moved to 4632 Nicollet Ave So in Minneapolis, where it remained for almost 5 years, when we were again forced to move out in June 2022.  Our current store at 1430 W County Road C, Suite 800 in Roseville is the largest incarnation yet with lots of room for more comics!
 
Comic Book College carries a wide selection of new comics and graphic novels. New comics arrive every Wednesday. Thousands of back issues are still available at cover price.  We stock an extensive back issue selection with over 100,000+ individual issues.  And no, sorry, we don't have an online catalog right now.  Maybe someday??  I'm still hoping.
